Curriculum: Understanding YouTube & Digital Citizenship – Google in Education

Do you wonder how to best teach about YouTube and Digital Citizenship? Google has just released a “new interactive curriculum to support teachers of secondary students (~ ages 13-17).” 

The curriculum has ten lessons: What Makes YouTube Unique, Detecting Lies, Safety Mode, Online Reputation and Cyberbullying, Policy, Reporting Content, Privacy Part 1, Privacy Part 2, Copyright, and Additional Resources/Appendix Including Parent Resources.

There is a Teacher’s Guide as well as Slides for each lessons.

Maputo – Angola’s presidency of the Portuguese Speaking Community also focused on the promotion and divulging of the common language, said the Angolan vice president, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos.

Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos was speaking at the opening of the 9th Summit of CPLP Heads of State and Government taking place in Maputo, Mozambique.

The official said Angola’s programme focused on the Brasilia action on the issue, the promotion and dissemination of the Portuguese language.

For the implementation of the programme, the CPLP executive authorities assigned the International Institute of Portuguese Language (IILP) to draft and run projects of promotion of the language.

Fernando da Piedade recalled that during its participation at the 65th 66th sessions of the UN General Assembly, Angola, in its capacity as chair of the CPLP, endeavoured for the addresses to be delivered in Portuguese, with the Angolan mission securing the translation of the speeches by Portuguese speaking representatives.

We often talk about the need to have students create a portfolio of their best work. Have you considered creating a portfolio of your work? There are many tools available today that you may use to present your accomplishments. This post will help you explore some of the ins and outs of creating a portfolio of your work.
Questions you will need to reflect on include “Where should I create this portfolio?” Possibilities include blogging platforms, websites, and digital resume tools.
You may also want to include your teaching philosophy, samples of your best work (lesson plans, assessment tools, presentations, etc. Samples of student work are also important.
Have you received grants, awards, provided professional development, published work? If so consider including these also.
The creation of a portfolio is a great way for you to reflect on your career to date and determine some new avenues you might like to explore.
